Experience “quintessential Bavarian” culture and scenery on our new 2025 tour; Romantic Road: Germany. This tour is choc a bloc with scenic passes, quaint villages, and beautiful architecture. This laid back tour with low daily mileage, offers you plenty of opportunities to explore on and off the bike. Come with us to enjoy this beautiful part of the world at a relaxed pace.
Beginning in the Ardennes, you’ll ride alongside stunning forests and rivers before reaching Trier. Trier is a city that interests on so many different layers – or tiers! There are Roman, Medieval and Baroque buildings, it is a beautiful ancient city beside the Mosel river with lots of places to explore. We will enjoy the wonderful green landscapes before we reach our resting point in Ludwigsburg, Germany’s Baroque gem. With a magnificent palace and gardens, a grand market square and tempting arcades, the small, friendly city has history and culture galore.
Let the “Romantic Road” commence as we head to Würzburg, set in an idyllic hilly location, home to one of Germany’s most extensive wine-producing areas. Würzburg another Baroque city offering southern German flair and Franconian hospitality. Architectural masterpieces from various eras shape the cityscape.
A short ride south takes us to the medieval town Rothenburg ob der Tauber with its well-preserved old town, sitting picturesquely above the Tauber valley, and its characteristic half-timbered houses, the town embodies the charm of times gone by.
Next stop is Bavaria’s oldest city Augsburg. This city has always been a little more glamorous than other cities. Its magnificent fountains, grand old guild houses, exquisite churches and the Town Hall combine to form a cityscape of rare intensity.
Once we get to Fussen, situated on the southern end of the Romantic Road, the medieval town centre is framed by the majestic Alps, towering above the banks of the river Lech and surrounding lake region. Here you will discover late-Gothic castles, baroque cathedrals and the oldest preserved fresco in Bavaria.
We’ll take in the picturesque village routes and sweeping roads towards Lake Titisee and Baden Baden. Explore this spa town at the foot of the Black Forest maybe join in with spa tradition? Heading back for the final night in the Ardennes.
