After a detailed orientation and bike setup, you’ll ride out of the capital and into the coastal elegance of Izu, following quiet roads that trace dramatic shorelines and forested hills. The riding here is smooth and flowing, offering an ideal introduction to Japan’s world-class road network.

From Izu, the route climbs toward the Fuji Five Lakes, delivering breathtaking views of Mount Fuji rising above tranquil waters. Each curve feels intentional, each road surface immaculate. Continuing west, you’ll enjoy scenic highways and rural backroads en route to Hamamatsu, a city deeply connected to Japan’s motorcycling legacy and coastal culture.

The landscape shifts dramatically as you enter the Japanese Alps. In Gero Hot Springs, one of Japan’s most prestigious onsen towns, the evening ritual of bathing becomes a cultural experience in itself. Days are perfectly balanced between rewarding riding and meaningful encounters with local traditions, seasonal cuisine, and historic towns. The ride north to Nanao and around the Noto Peninsula reveals some of Japan’s finest hidden roads—coastal sweepers, rolling countryside, and villages where time seems to slow.

Returning to the mountains, you’ll unwind in Hirayu Hot Springs, surrounded by alpine forests, before tackling highland passes en route to Kusatsu Hot Springs, famous for its dramatic steam fields and therapeutic waters. These regions deliver some of the most engaging riding of the tour, with elevation changes, technical corners, and panoramic views.

In Nikko, spiritual heritage takes centre stage. Cedar-lined roads lead to ornate shrines and temples, including UNESCO World Heritage sites. A dedicated rest day allows you to explore at a relaxed pace—walking forest trails, visiting cultural landmarks, or simply enjoying the tranquillity of your surroundings.

The final riding days bring peaceful reflection along the lakeside roads through the pastoral landscapes of Sakura, before returning to Tokyo to conclude the journey.
