Tour Overview

A premium motorcycle journey through the Picos de Europa, Asturias, Galicia, and Portugal’s Douro Valley, this tour delivers some of the finest riding in Europe. From flowing mountain roads and dramatic natural parks to hand‑picked hotels, Paradors, and a riverside wine estate, it’s the perfect blend of unforgettable roads, iconic landscapes, and refined comfort.

By popular demand, this tour begins with the shorter overnight ferry crossing from Plymouth to Santander, maximising riding time in northern Spain and Portugal. An early afternoon arrival in Santander allows us to waste no time, heading straight inland for a scenic 75‑mile ride into the dramatic Picos de Europa Mountains.

Our first night is spent in the Picos, in a small mountain village ideally placed for the riding ahead. Surrounded by soaring limestone peaks and quiet roads, it’s the perfect introduction to one of Europe’s most rewarding motorcycle destinations.

Our first full day in the saddle delivers unforgettable riding through the twisting mountain roads of the Picos and Asturias, combining flowing curves with constant elevation changes and panoramic views. The day ends in Galicia, at a secluded hotel overlooking , where you can relax in the Jacuzzi or steam room and recover from a superb day’s riding.

From Galicia, the landscape evolves as we head south into Portugal, riding towards our beautifully located Quinta on the banks of the River Douro, in the heart of the Douro Basin. This is our base for two nights, allowing time to enjoy both the riding and the setting. You can unwind among the vineyards or join our optional 200‑mile loop ride, taking in the spectacular roads of the Douro International Natural Park, before returning along the river itself.

Located in Portugal’s most prestigious wine‑producing region, the Quinta offers an experience to match the riding. A guided wine tasting is included, ensuring you’re well prepared when choosing from the local cellar at dinner.

Turning north once more, the tour continues with more outstanding roads—sweeping, flowing, and blissfully quiet—as we ride through the Sierra de Montesinho Natural Park en route to Puebla de Sanabria. Although we’re gradually making our way back towards Spain, the quality of riding only continues to build.

Our final two nights in Spain are spent in beautifully located  Hotels and Paradors, perfectly positioned in the Asturias and Picos Mountains. Even the last riding day delivers plenty of miles, elevation, and spectacular scenery, before we return to Santander for an early evening ferry.

With the bike secured and a drink in hand, you can relax on the crossing home—tired, exhilarated, and reflecting on one of the finest guided motorcycle tours of northern Spain and Portugal.

All the materials supplied for the tour were excellent, including the marked up maps - a very nice touch. All the riders were agreed it was a fantastic trip with great riding on wonderful roads. The hotels were outstanding.
