SARDINIA AND CORSICA

Tour Overview

Our Sardinia and Corsica motorcycle tour brings together two remarkable Mediterranean islands with some of Europe’s most rewarding roads. Beginning in northern Europe and finishing among vineyards and open countryside, this journey combines mountain riding, island landscapes, coastal towns and time to relax, all at a pace that lets you enjoy every mile.

This journey begins with a relaxed ride south through France and Switzerland, easing you into the tour before the warmth of the Mediterranean. While these first three days are a transition, the riding is enjoyable and varied. We stay first in the historic town of Troyes, followed by Evian les Bains, set on the shores of Lac Leman close to the Swiss border. From here, the route continues into Italy, bringing us to Genoa in time to board our overnight ferry to the islands.

The crossing delivers us to Sardinia, where the pace naturally slows and the scenery opens out. A late afternoon sailing allows time to explore Genoa or Alba before boarding. On arrival, Sardinia reveals what makes it such a favourite with riders: quiet roads, open landscapes, clear seas and sunshine.

We spend two nights near the fishing port of Cala Gonone, giving time to unwind, explore locally or enjoy the region’s excellent seafood. From here, we ride across the centre of the island, travelling east to west through a sparsely populated interior before reaching the coastal town of Alghero. Two nights here allow you to explore the old town, relax at the hotel, or visit the nearby Grotte di Alghero, with their impressive underground chambers.

A short ferry crossing brings us to Corsica, arriving at the striking clifftop town of Bonifacio. Founded in 828 AD, its old town is compact and atmospheric, with narrow streets, Genoese architecture and views across the sea.

From Bonifacio, the route heads inland through Corsica’s mountainous interior. The riding here is consistently rewarding as we circle Monte Cinto, the island’s highest peak, before arriving in Calvi for a two night stay. A rest day gives you the option to slow things down or head out for additional riding with the tour leader.

The tour continues north to Erbalunga, once the most important harbour on Cap Corse and now a small fishing village. Grand houses, a Genoese tower and a lively harbour hint at its past, while today it offers an easy place to wander and relax.

After an overnight ferry back to the mainland, we return to mainland France and ride through the Gorges du Verdon before joining the Route Napoleon, one of Europe’s most well known motorcycle roads. We stay overnight in the GAP region, chosen for its location in the Alpine foothills and straightforward comfort.

The following day continues along the Route Napoleon toward Burgundy, before our final night and farewell dinner in Champagne country. The journey concludes with a gentle ride north through the French countryside, an afternoon LeShuttle crossing at Calais, and the return home.

The islands of Corsica and Sardinia proved to be a bikes heaven.

HIRE BIKES:  If you are booking with a hire bike we will hand your bike over on the afternoon prior to the first tour day.  This will give you a chance to get familiar with the bike, make any adjustments, arrange your packing and not waste any time on the first day riding.

Day 1 An early morning LeShuttle crossing from the UK to Calais kicks things off. Once wheels hit French tarmac, we head south on smooth, flowing roads toward our comfortable overnight stop near Troyes, easing into the rhythm of the tour.

Day 2 Today is about distance and anticipation. We carve south through classic French countryside, crossing into Switzerland as the landscape begins to rise. The edges of the Alps appear on the horizon, building excitement for what lies ahead.

Day 3 An unforgettable day. We cross into Italy via the legendary Grand St Bernard Pass, one of the great Alpine crossings with sweeping bends and epic views. The descent leads us south toward Genoa, where our overnight ferry awaits. Timing is key — Don’t be late!

Day 4 We wake to warm Mediterranean air and roll onto Sardinian soil. Our destination is the charming fishing port of Cala Gonone, where colourful boats, turquoise water, and relaxed island life set the tone for our first night on the island.

Day 5 A well-earned pause. Explore this laid‑back hamlet, relax on pristine beaches, or indulge in excellent local seafood. Optional rides are available, but today is yours to enjoy Sardinia at its finest.

Day 6 A rider’s highlight. Today delivers a twisty, technical ride across Sardinia, cutting from the rugged east coast to the fortified western town of Alghero. Expect empty roads, constant curves, and big smiles inside your helmet.

Day 7 Time to explore historic Alghero, with its Catalan influence and stone ramparts. Alternatively, visit the spectacular Neptune’s Caves (Grotte di Nettuno), cathedral‑sized caverns carved by the sea. Ride, explore, or relax, the choice is yours.
